Donna’s Piano Lessons

2004, I finally walked up to Donna, our accompanist at the church and asked her if she can teach my piano. To my surprise, she said yes.

She charged $40 for 1/2 an hour for weekly lessons. Not that I cannot afford a full hour, but for my attention span, the private voice lessons that I was taking (yup, I have mysingingjourney.com on that progress),and the amount of workloads I had at that time, making it weekly was very challenging to me. My whole world depends on me.

So, I learned a lot from Donna, but I could have done better from the year of weekly private lessons and monthly recital dinner at her home with her other students.

I definitely learned the basics of piano, and definitely learned one beautiful piece – Solfeggietto. Love it! Every time I play it, it gives me a satisfying feeling of accomplishment. Because, I can sit down anytime at any piano and play that one piece regardless of who is around. That is a great feeling.

That one piece, Solfeggietto that I’ve learned, is a simple easy piano piece, and yet, it sounded so beautiful and doesn’t sound like someone new learned it.

But then my father moved on in 2005 and my heart was broken, I was so sad, I stopped the lesson.I couldn’t sing. I couldn’t play piano. I just cried and cried. It took many years from me to pick up the pieces and wanted to continue my piano journey again.
